Presentation of a document of identification
Istituto Universitario Olandese di Storia dell’Arte
Viale Torricelli 5
The institute is located on the south side of the city, just outside the old city walls on the hills between Villa del Poggio Imperiale and Piazzale Michelangelo. It is easily accessible, both by public transport and by car. There are ample parking facilities in the immediate surroundings.
The closest bus stops are Piazzale Galileo (bus 12 or 13) and Via del Gelsomino 01 (bus 11 from the city centre in the direction of Due Strade, second stop after Porta Romana/La Calza). For the time tables see www.ataf.net.
Visitors travelling to Florence by car can easily find the institute by taking the Firenze Certosa exit on the A1 (Autostrada del Sole). After the toll booth, drive via Galluso in the direction of Florence along Via Senese. After approximately 2 km, all motor traffic is channelled to the right through Via Gelsomino. At the end of this street, there is an intersection with traffic lights. By driving straight through the intersection, one will arrive at Viale Evangelista Torricelli, recognizable by its double row of towering pine trees on both sides of the street.
By far the quickest way of reaching the institute from Amerigo Vespucci airport is by taxi (approximately 20 minutes’ travel time).
