In addition, ten rooms with bunk beds and a washbasin are available. There are shared bathrooms and toilets as well as a shared kitchen and living room. Students and researchers on an individual basis are allocated their own rooms.

All guests can make use of the spacious garden with olive trees. Towels and bed linens are provided. The rooms and shared areas are cleaned daily.
Guests have 24/7 access to the library. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer.

The institute has an auditorium with audio-visual equipment, with a capacity of seventy people, that can be rented by third parties.

Provided that our rooms are not occupied by grant holders, trainees or participants in working groups, seminars and excursions, students and scientists who need to be in Florence for research purposes are also welcome to stay at the institute for a fee. Requests can be submitted throughout the year by e-mail (niki@nikiflorence.org), indicating the dates and purpose of the stay. The NIKI remains open throughout the summer of 2024.

Grant holders and researchers can have a paying guest stay in their room. Arrangements must be made in advance with our office manager, Lex Kuil.

External scholarships

We would like to draw your attention to external possibilities for financing. For example, it is possible for Dutch art historians with at least a master’s degree or equivalent to obtain a scholarship through the independent Elly Cassee Foundation to finance research stays at the NIKI. For more information you may refer to its website www.ellycasseestichting.nl.
