On October 20-21, 2022 the international conference ‘Visual Humanisms’ will be held at the NIKI. This symposium is organised by Marieke van den Doel (University of Humanistic Studies, Utrecht) and Michael W. Kwakkelstein (NIKI).
In the Spring of 1863, Pierre Cuypers (1827-1921) – the Dutch architect most famous for designing the Rijksmuseum and the Central Station in Amsterdam – made a journey through Italy. Recently, the NIKI acquired a sketchbook that Cuypers kept during his travels.
On June 3rd, the first part of the twentieth volume of the series Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard on Peter Paul Rubens’s anatomical studies by NIKI-director Michael W. Kwakkelstein was published by Harvey Miller / Brepols.
On Thursday, April 28th, the exhibition with drawings by Menno Balm will be festively opened with contributions by prof. Michael W. Kwakkelstein, prof. Paul van den Akker, and the artist himself.
