In the Spring of 1863, Pierre Cuypers (1827-1921) – the Dutch architect most famous for designing the Rijksmuseum and the Central Station in Amsterdam – made a journey through Italy. Recently, the NIKI acquired a sketchbook that Cuypers kept during his travels. It concerns a unique document that throws new light on his trajectory and his sources of inspiration. An ideal source for new research!

Special attention will be devoted to the source in the next Nieuwsbrief (News letter) of the Stichting Vrienden van het NIKI (Foundation Friends of the NIKI).
